The Chagu Chagu Umakko Festival in Morioka, Japan, is a celebration in honor of the horses that traditionally were used to work in the fields. Long replaced by mechanical means the contribution of these majestic animals to the well-being of the farmers is not forgotten and every year respect is paid at the local shrine, followed by a huge parade of elaborately decorated horses, all being ridden by children dressed in traditional costume.
