Skills in leather working are extremely useful, as ad hoc repairs are often needed. With the unrelenting schedule of chores to keep animals fed and looked after there is seldom time to go shopping for spare items, even if there was the budget for them.

Personal items are designed and built to last, they wear into t the lifestyle and habits of their owners. Metals seldom have a chance to tarnish as constant fiction from other materials gives them a proud lustre.

The privately owned ranches are a disappearing feature of the historic West. This project set out to capture the lifestyle and traditions before they are eradicated forever.
