The Contemporary West : Paul’s Truck

Early starts are a regular feature of ranch work. The distances involved in getting horses men and equipment to the job are surprising to an outsider. We left Pauls house just before dawn to meet Ryan on the way. A pre-agreed rendezvous with no discernable features in this enormous expanse of range. We loaded Ryan’s horse and equipment and pushed on along rough tracks as the sun rose.

The privately owned ranches are a disappearing feature of the historic West. This project set out to capture the lifestyle and traditions before they are eradicated forever.
