DEVOUR VII: QUOD MANET

Oil on canvas 12x16" (physical included at list 0.420Ξ)

Week 7 of DEVOUR: a year-long project of reading and responding by Rocketgirl.

This painting is an abstract reflection on the book 'The Goldfinch' (Donna Tartt).

"Whatever teaches us to talk to ourselves is important: whatever teaches us to sing ourselves out of despair." — Donna Tartt, The Goldfinch

DEVOUR VII: QUOD MANET interprets the emotional residue of the book rather than its narrative — the heaviness, the hidden knowledge, the quiet rupture between loss and what refuses to be lost. The work offers a gesture toward the moment when beauty becomes an act of defiance.
