GANBROOD#2: In Secret we met — in Silence I Grieve #2/5
Drawing from his expertise in professional photography, Ganbrood has developed a nuanced understanding of composition, color, and visual storytelling that informs his artistic practice. With the advent of AI, photography and art have entered a new chapter in human expression, merging the visual registration capabilities of the camera with traditional disciplines like drawing and painting. In this context, he creates synthetic images that are "driven by visual lore rather than light," encouraging viewers to contemplate the evolving impact of technology on contemporary perception.
His work draws from personal experiences and interests, allowing him to explore profound questions of identity, creativity, and reality. While photography captures the world through the human eye, AI relies on a vast synthetic repository of data, with photographic input significantly shaping its generative processes. By framing his imagery within his own photographs, he aims to create intimate visuals that weave together archetypal themes from diverse cultural and historical contexts, examining the interplay between past and present narratives.
In his artistic practice, he embraces the tension between realism and abstraction, reflecting the complexities of human experience in the digital age. Each piece serves as a layered narrative, inviting viewers to delve into the undefined meanings and stories behind the visuals. Alongside his playful experimentation with this emerging technology, he strives to infuse his work with personal expression, capturing the essence of his soul as any artist would.
Through this approach, Ganbrood seeks to reinterpret themes of heroism and mythology, connecting ancient narratives with contemporary issues. His exploration of myth and heroism symbolizes the shifting values, beliefs, and struggles of today’s society, illustrating how these narratives weave identity and ethics into the human experience. In an era where the post-truth landscape demands its own interrogation and validation, his practice extends human imagination into re-imagined stories shaped by myth and art.
