Right after sunset I’d leave behind worn out cracked concrete of the city, so hot the air was vibrating above it. I’d pass the old houses at the end of the street, power lines, cross the dusty road and follow the winding path right into the woods. But before I entered the woods I always turned to take a look at the town one more time. Clouds illuminated by last sunset rays. Run-down buildings now covered by soft blue darkness. Widows glowing, warm orange and red. Cozy little world behind each of them. Tenderness, and loneliness, and sadness of human life.
