The butcher of the neighborhood had such a huge belly, it looked like a storage room for expired meat in an old fridge. One day, when he slaughtered a poor pregnant pig, he had no idea a tiny piglet was still inside her. Things got weird when, instead of being digested, the little piglet anchored itself in his stomach and, after days of bubbling around, crawled up into his chest. The result? Every night the butcher woke up to mysterious oink-oink noises coming from his own lungs, thinking pig ghosts were haunting him. Until one morning, during a massive sneeze, the piglet leapt out heroically from between his ribs and landed on the butcher’s counter! But instead of squealing, the piglet blew out birthday candles—it was exactly one year since its mother’s death. From that day on, every customer who came for sausages had to sing Happy Birthday to the pig born in the butcher’s chest. And the butcher? He still swears he can hear faint oinks echoing between his ribs. Acrylic on canvas 40×40 cm
