Pierre Curie was a French physicist and a pioneer in the fields of crystallography, magnetism, piezoelectricity and radioactivity. Pierre’s early work revolved around the magnetic properties of materials and their dependence on temperature before he joined his wife in the study of radioactivity. Together with Henri B., Pierre and Marie were awarded the Nobel Prize in physics on their contribution to the understanding of the radiation phenomena. They were the first to win the Nobel Prize as a married couple, thus launching the Curie family legacy of five Nobel Prizes.
