Calm waves crash onto the beach as I stand there, gazing at the beauty that is Maui Hawaii. Maui takes on a completely new level of beauty when viewed under a beaming full moon. But to my surprise it became even more magical.
Lunar rainbows make up less than 10 percent of all regular rainbows. Becoming only possible if numerous astronomical conditions are perfect. And that is what I captured in this image... but if you look hard enough you can make out the faint arch of a second one. A double lunar rainbows. As I shot this image, I couldn't believe my eyes. I didn't even know lunar rainbows existed. This made for an extremely magical and fairytale like experience that night.
The twinkling stars, poofy white clouds, beaming double lunar rainbows and the blue ocean water of Maui. Does it get more magical than that? All these conditions came together for a once in a lifetime capture, my most rare piece to date. And it will probably remain that way for the rest of my life.
