The first language you learn is love
It’s there in your mother’s eyes and even when you cannot understand her whispers
Her eyes say it all
But you and I learnt at different bosoms
The love I speak makes no sense to you.
You say “slow down”
“Repeat yourself, I do not understand”
But how else can I ask you to let me in?
Perhaps I should practice
Maybe I’m not as fluent as I think
So tonight after you leave me, I will be undone. My body will shiver from the emptiness but like I have and as always will,
I’ll hold myself because only I can hold my hands when it trembles.
