Colombina is a classic character of Italian romantic plays. She is frivolous and charming. She is clearly in the Rococo style, emphasizing the idle, puppet lifestyle. The pocket watch in her hairstyle indicates that she is very careless with time. But Time is inexorable and it uncontrollably spills out like sand from a broken cup.
