Portrait: Rostam

"Rostam" was one of the noble Persian warriors who lived in the Sassanid period.. Ferdowsi's Shahnameh, one of the most enduring literatures of Iran and the world, describes the historical events of Iran, especially Rostam's battles.

Iranian artists have been inspired by the Shahnameh because of their interest in literary works. Iranian carpet weavers have also depicted Rostam in their works.
