Talismans: Ganesha Matchbox

Inspired by a visit to the Tobacco & Salt Museum of Tokyo. I learned about the importance they gave to matchbox labels in their early days.

Magical fire-starting tools deserved a beautiful packaging, so artists started creating unique designs which people keep collecting even today.

Combining traditional Japanese designs and motifs. Ornaments and deities from Indian mythology. Different languages and scripts blended together. The beautiful imperfection of the lithograph printer.
