Obaid Alsafi uses an innovative dataset focusing on the aesthetics and cinematic essence of the Arabian leopard that has been meticulously crafted to feed a cutting-edge artificial intelligence system. This dataset, rich in visual content, leverages AI and machine learning technologies to train a computer using an extensive collection of photographs. The objective is to enable the AI to conceptualize and create motion videography that celebrates the resurgence of the Arabian leopard in Saudi Arabia. This artwork is not merely a celebration of the Arabian leopard; it is a testament to the pride of a nation. It encourages a profound respect for biomimetic and bioengineering innovations inherent in the natural world. By fostering a harmonious balance between science and nature, this project illuminates the path towards coexistence and mutual respect.In Evolution, the viewer is invited to witness the transformative and creative process of nature, science, and preservation. The artwork consists of a video production that captures the development of new and hybrid biological patterns, including this unique species that is critically endangered. The installation also features 7 reflective artworks, each celebrating one of the 7 new Arabian leopard cubs recently born in the Kingdom. In these 7 installations, we see the results of artificial hybridization between images of endangered plants in the Empty Quarter. In a world where we are confronted with climate change and loss of natural habitats, the importance of preserving biodiversity has never been greater. Through this artwork, the viewer is encouraged to consider not only the science behind animal evolution but also the cultural and ecological role leopards play in the ecosystem. Evolution reminds us that we are but one species in a vast web of life. Our responsibility is not limited to protecting our planet and its species, but also to reflect on how their wonders can inspire our present and future.
