Botanical Creatures: Mycology Creatures

Mycology Creatures, 1/1, Fine Art Photography, 3840px x 2790px.

This image is one of my feature photographic artworks of the season. Year of creation: 2022, First exhibited at the Kuranda Artist Co-Op Gallery August 2022, Qld, Australia

I photographed the creatures, fungi and botanical elements during the tropical wet season here in Northern Australia where I live and grew up. Various macro techniques, which include hand held flashes, tripods and focus stacking were used to get the desired details. Numerous day and night time walks through the rainforest where i live were needed to find these animals. Some of which are so shy and rare you need to stay still and wait for them to emerge from the shadows. The images were then combined over time into one seamless image to show the abundance of unique life here in the forest. Similar to a traditional still life, a wheres Wally of the natural world this piece is full of tiny wonders, which often go unnoticed.
