Senem's Yearbook: 𝟹𝟼𝟻: ʀᴇsɪʟɪᴇɴᴄᴇ ɪɴ ᴀᴡᴀʀᴇɴᴇss
Realizing that we are not alone in the face of adversity is a turning point in many people's lives. The year 2023 was such a year for me, where I discovered this truth. I encountered adversities that could befall anyone in life from time to time. Each one made me feel as if I were the only one in the world experiencing such pain. However, over time, I realized that there were thousands of people experiencing similar hardships as mine.
This realization deeply affected me and awakened me. I no longer felt alone. Sharing this pain with others somehow brought us together and created a sense of solidarity within me. I learned to let go of clinging tightly to my own sufferings and became open to the experiences of others.
These experiences helped me understand that pain is not just an individual experience but a common denominator of humanity. As we all navigate the ups and downs of life, we are essentially weathering the same storm in the same sea. With this awareness, I began to see more clearly the transient and variable nature of pain. I understood that holding onto pain served me no purpose.
I noticed that sharing everything strengthened my connection with myself. Knowing that I was not alone even on bad days changed my perspective on life. I now know that sharing my pain empowers me.
Today, inspired by these experiences, I created this piece. "365 buttons" symbolizes the past pains we clung to. Each button reminds us that someone else has walked the same path and creates a bond that unites our pains.
Instead of tightly clinging to our own sufferings, we can make life more meaningful by sharing them and learning from others' experiences. Each of us possesses the power to support one another and grow together.
Growing and changing can sometimes be challenging and painful, but they are necessary for growth and maturity. Facing difficulties, learning from mistakes and experiences, emotional maturity, and realizing our personal potential are important. The difficulties and pains we experience as part of these processes can ultimately help us become stronger, wiser, and more resilient individuals. Acceptance and learning are crucial steps for personal growth and transformation. Therefore, seeing challenges as opportunities and accepting them as part of our journey can lead to better development than getting stuck.
