The King is Back

As a person, it is only normal to face self-doubt, feelings of inadequacy, or insecurities in a world of differing opinions. This piece pays tribute to those still trying to conform to what isn't really them; individuals who are yet to discover themselves, those who are on the journey of discovering themselves, and those who have finally discovered themselves.

The King is back...from his self-imposed exile, from doing what is not really him to take back the space he left behind in his bid to conform.

This piece is largely about the artist rekindling his desire to create... hence the Basquiat crown.

The palette was a conscious choice as a black artist trying to portray royalty. The butterfly? There are few things, animals and plants that undergo the beautiful metamorphosis of a butterfly.
