This art is my vision of an old Slavic holiday. It calls Maslenitsa - also known as Butter Lady, Butter Week is an Eastern Slavic religious and folk holiday, which has retained a number of elements of Slavic mythology in its ritual, celebrated during the last week before Great Lent.
In ancient times it was a symbolic funeral ritual. Participants carried coffin with this doll inside. It was made from hay in women's dress and than burned it later in that day. So they said goodbye to winter.
