There are chapters of our lives that can have a profound impact on the way we think, feel and view the world. This is one such chapter. In 2017, I lost 2 of the most important people in my life, my Dad and my friend Joel. These events changed my perspective on life.

I crafted every aspect of this piece to communicate the raw, emotional pain I’ve experienced, pain that anyone feels when they lose loved ones that have played such an important part in your life. I also wanted to incorporate a stillness, a sense of calm, because I have finally reached the realm of peace and acceptance.

A friend once told me that maybe this happened to me because I am strong enough to handle it. Maybe the way these events have changed me will allow me to help others be vulnerable, to share their pain and to heal.
