Octahedron

Eight flying pyramids swarm around a square bipyramidal core rotating in place, only to overwhelm it and form a Stellated Octahedron - until that breaks up into a pyramidal swarm.

The Stellated Octohedron is the third in a series of pieces in the Electric Forms collection, a collaboration between artist Adamo Moses, clarinetist Bill Kalinkos and LIBESKIND ARTS. Electric Forms is influenced by the geometric figures of the famed Renaissance mathematician Luca Pacioli. Pacioli’s work is usually taken very seriously, yet we know from his journals that this genius polymath also had a lighter side which we’ve attempted to draw out in this collection. Full of spirited movement and unexpected transformations and accompanied by original music, the collection seeks to reinterpret Renaissance geometries for the 21st century.
