I was born in Harstad, well above the Arctic circle in northern Norway. Actually not far from this very location. Growing up, we were told by our parents not to tease or interact with the Aurora Borealis - especially not waving a white flag at it. Why? Then it would come down and get us. Well, nothing happened and my fascination with the lights calmed down a bit when becoming a teenager/adult. It's weird the things you take for granted. On this particular night, I was simply out with a friend scouting the surrounding areas when this scene unfolded itself.
I'm not a religious man, but after this witnessing this event - I thought to myself "There's got to be something or someone out there, bigger than all of us". It's like everything is supercharged with energy and you can actually hear the lights sparkle. An absolutely amazing experience.
Fast forwarrd to 2021: my fascination with the lights is now bigger than ever.
