The Padimoles

As I sat my backpack down on the driest bit of ground I could find, I saw black shadows scatter in my peripherals. I motioned to the others to stay silent. We crouched down and scanned our surroundings for whatever we had disturbed, and I noticed a strange opening in a nearby log. It was decorated with a tiny doorway, constructed of sticks and torn fabric. After a couple of minutes, the first little head poked out of it.
