We followed the tourist trail, towards the viewing angle we had seen in countless photos prior. The sun was putting on a show, the cyan waters of Navagio beach responding in kind to the almost white cliff faces framing the scene. Not a sole on the beach itself, just the lone, rusty old wreck of the MV Panagiotis that we were there to witness. On the walk down, I had spotted another trail that was closed off, presumably for safety reasons, and couldn’t help but wonder how much better the aspect would be from there. We agreed to part ways for that moment, and I took off towards the unbeaten path - loose, gravelly surfaces with no clear path through the dense shrubbery. Finally arriving at a point I could view the horizon, I estimated that the shipwreck of Navagio must be below… I gingerly moved towards the cliff, and peered over the edge…
