This artwork explores the fragility of the natural world. Mortality and the metamorphosis of our own lives are contrasted with the short life span of insects and flowers. Pandora’s Box references the magical elements of our world and how much beauty surrounds us that we don’t always notice.
Using photographs taken in my garden with a Canon 5D camera, the digital collage is assembled with photographs of Butterflies, Moths and Roses. The photographs are edited, printed, hand cut and arranged to balance layers of colour and contrast. I photograph the final composition and then edit the elements of the collage to tessellate the final image.
This piece uses rich colours, textures and ethereal beauty to explore this reoccurring theme in my artwork.
