Italian Baroque painter Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio crafted a vision of Bacchus (c.1596), also known as Dionysus - the god of fertility and wine.
Overlayed and interwoven into the painting are archived architectural plans from a wine tasting room my studio had designed a few years back. The client owned a beautiful vineyard, located just off the western coast of Portugal, and needed a place to host large crowds to host his wine tastings.
We designed everything around the massive circular oak table that was central located in the core of the room. It was important to us that every person attending these gatherings had a spectacular view of the property. We achieved this by glazing all the way around the open vista. The building was beautifully nestled into the landscape.
If Dionysus was on earth today, this would be his place.
