There's something remarkably humbling about standing on the edge of a canyon. The way the river serpentines through deep, narrow valleys and yells bellow off jagged rock faces.
I grew up in the Midwest. We don't have landscapes like this where I'm from. When all you've ever known is cornfields and flat plains, sights like these can be overwhelming when you witness them for the first time. It was for me!
The smallest my ego had ever felt was at the edge of this canyon.
My wish for the world is that everybody gets to feel that at least once in their lifetime; and for those that know the feeling, I hope this piece brings you closer to that again.
