As the story goes, Fu Lin came from Buddha's mighty tame lion and the tiny marmoset that stole his giant heart. The lion begged Ah Chu to shrink him down to match the size of his beloved marmoset, but his heart stayed the same enormous size. From then on, the lion and the marmoset brought forth tiny lions packed into the bodies of what looked like dogs squished into cats, all full of fire and fierceness too big for their forms, forever like that lion’s giant heart.
