The Clash of the Machines

Taken in a factory located in a region that once housed much of the country’s manufacturing industry. This factory in particular used to employ hundreds of workers in the production of Home furniture.
Difficult economic conjecture in the mid of the 2000s led to a decrease demand and consequently many staff was laid-off until the Factory finally closed some years later. A fate which was well too common for that time to many other industries in the region. The visit occurred in one winter day, still much of the inventory ranging from small items like screws to big machinery could be found inside. The equipment depicted in this photo represented part of the production chain. Staff used to operate them, sitting on their chairs during the entire shift. Both staff and machines have now been spread apart from each other. Curiously, the electricity was still on at the time.
