Piece #86 of 100
Portrait of a Karo tribesmen patrolling along the bank of the Omo River. The Karo is a small tribe living along the east banks of the Omo River in southern Ethiopia. Like many of the tribes in the Omo Valley, they paint their bodies and faces with white chalk. The activity of patrolling the territory is pretty common in the area. The first aim is the defence of the herds. The main threat to livestock indeed is from raiders since the cattle rustling is a spread cultural practice.
