On August 13, 2021, after beginning a chase near the Arizona / New Mexico border, I followed a line of storms racing west over nearly 10,000 foot peaks and dry lake beds below. The final push from these storms resulted in an outflow boundary that sparked an isolated storm forming over the San Xavier Mission south of Tucson. Knowing I had only minutes, I raced to this location and was able to capture the best display of lightning I've witnessed over the mission in years. Although fleeting, this moment in time was captured using a 12mm lens to capture the enormity of what I was witnessing.
The winner of this bid will also receive up to a 16x24 metal print of this art .
