A central figure in the Hindu Pantheon, Vishnu (meaning Preserver/Upholder), is considered the Lord of Abundance & Prosperity.
The meaning behind the symbols and rituals that entail him, are that of material and spiritual growth. The temples that house him are some of the most Ornate palaces, bedecked with fine artwork. He is bathed everyday with the choicest & rarest of herbs & oils.
At the same time, Vishnu Philosophy comes with the understanding that none of this, i.e, the grandeur and the material reality connected to it.. None of it is permanent.
Sooner or later everything fades away! And in order to be at peace one must come to terms with this Idea. The idea of being able to Let Go.
Vishnu as a Figure understands this, which is why he is the only God, who is fashioned as a KING, & his abode is called 'RANGAPURA' - The Playground!
Here, he is seen mounted on his Vehicle - GARUDA. His name is invoked for a prosperous start. Hence he is the first of my upcoming series.
