This is one half of a pair series featuring a tree and the milky way. In this image we witness a fast setting waxing crescent moon, with the dark side facing where the faint milky way is emerging in the late golden/ early blue hour sky. This was taken shortly after the sun had completely gone away. The only two that got to witness this moment were myself and the 250 year old Cypress tree on the California coast. Hence the title of this piece. Until now, this is the only time I have shot the milky way "alone".
