In 2015, a quiet seaside town in England was thrust into the spotlight as a mysterious exhibition was unveiled.
Dismaland was created by well-known street artist Banksy, and it was more than just a pop-up exhibition. Banksy hand selected artists to display their works, alongside his own, inside an apocalyptic theme park.
People from around the world visited the derelict seaside resort to experience “The UK’s most disappointing new visitor attraction”. Banksy was even rumoured to have visited several times whilst it was open, blending in with the crowd. The exhibition was only open for 5 weeks.
This picture was taken at sunset as you entered the park. The silhouette of the Disney-esque Dismal castle, along with the other art, set the scene for what was to come!
Dismaland has long gone, and this image will never be captured again.
