The magical location of Moke Lake in New Zealand is set up perfectly for capturing stunning landscape images. The mountainous landscape, unique weather patterns and sheltered lake nestled in this valley all work together to help produce the most enchanting of scenes.
This particular morning the elements all came together and I was the only person there to capture it. I could see the colour start to light up the sky about an hour before sunrise and knew I was in for something special. As the colours deepened and the darkness faded away, the clouds formed overhead like dragon's fire.
The sky above was constantly changing, yet the lake only suffered from little shimmers of wind, offering the best of both worlds. Chaotic skies and a calm reflective lake.
This remains my favourite sunrise I've ever seen.
