My first time creating this artwork was way back in 2019. Back then, I only would create digital art, so I drew the first version with colored pencils. After becoming more comfortable with digital drawing, I decided to revamp this artwork. When I first created this artwork, it's meaning was along the lines of feeling like I need my mental illnesses in order to make art. With time came a new meaning, and the meaning now is realizing that you are the only one who gets to decide how to perceive the world. It is entirely possible to lose sight of positivity by focusing on the negatives in life too much. I want this artwork to serve as a reminder that you can learn to control, and better deal with any type of emotion that you might feel. Even though you might think you're not in control of your reactions or emotions, I promise you that learning to cope with intense emotions takes time. Like any skill, you wont be perfect the first time around, and please... give yourself time and be kind.
