The Forbidden City is an iconic palace that receives thousands of visitors annually. Located at the center of the Imperial City of Beijing, the opulent complex has the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world and holds an estimated market value of $70 billion, making it both one of the world's most valuable palace and piece of real estate anywhere in the world.
It was one of the most challenging photographies I have taken, as I only had a few seconds to set up my camera and capture the crowd entering the palace underneath the storm. I wanted to register Mao Tse-tung portrait in an unconventional way, being washed by the rain as a representation of a forgiveness request for his controversial life. He ruled China as an autocratic and totalitarian regime and is credit as the responsible for mass repression, destruction of religious artifacts, and starvation of more than 40 million victims through starvation, persecution, prison labour and mass executions.
