Portrait of Nyangatom women. The Nyangatom are semi-nomadic agro-pastoralist inhabiting the dry, semi-desert lands of southwestern Ethiopia. They are famous among the tribes for their ability to make necklaces. The Nyangatom tribe women wear a lot of different beads on their necks, which they never ever take off. As a young girl, they get their first strand of beads as a gift from their father and for all the years of the life they add more and more. Some woman may wear up to 6kg (about 13lbs) of beads.
