Azur de Pripyat Swimming Pool

Interior of "Azur swimming pool" (Басейн Лазурний). Indoor swimming pool located in Pripyat, Kiev Oblast, in locality abandoned in the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster. The site is located at vul. Sportyvna, 24.

The pool was built in the 1970s and operated until 1998, twelve years after the disaster. At that time, the pool facilities were used by the liquidators.

Despite the high radiation levels in the area, the pool is considered one of the cleanest spots in the city, however, both the pool and the adjoining basketball court suffer in an advanced state of disrepair.

Photograph taken on December 15, 2017, 2:02 on a raid in Pripyat, 18 km from the city of Chernobyl, a ghost town due to the nuclear accident that happened on April 26, 1986 at the Vladimir Ilyich Lenin nuclear power plant.
