Portrait of Mundari man cleaning the horns of his cattle with sand and mud (South Sudan). The Mundari are cattle herders who live in symbiosis with their Ankole Watusi cattle, characterized by their large horns. They use ash from the dung fires as talcum to massage their cattle twice a day. A mixture of mud and ash is used to rub into the horns of their Ankole-Watusi cows to prevent them from chafing. To polish the magnificent horns of the cattle often a combination of urine and ash is also used.
