This photo is the third edition of my Abstract Landscapes series, which depicts abstract scenes from some of the most beautiful locations in America. This comes from a desire to spread awareness of the environmental impacts humans have on the natural landscape and hopefully spark interest and enthusiasm to protect these places.
This photo comes from our Public Lands near Salt Lake City. This lake color is caused by the green alga Dunaliella salina. At high salinity, temperature and light, this alga accumulates the red carotenoid pigment, which causes the lake to appear red or pink.
This is image number 3 of 10 in the Abstract Landscape series.
