Dinner was all set up, but no one could be seen. What was there to be found hiding in the tureen?
The first photograph from my series called "The Aristocrats"
It is very loosely inspired by The Aristocrats joke, which has been told by comedians since the days of vaudeville. The joke is about a family walking into a talent agency to present their act, which descents into the most absurd, tasteless and dirtiest situations that the comedian can conjure, some of them involving incest, necrophilia, murder, and similar subjects that transgress social norms, with the punchline being that they present themselves as "The Aristocrats" in the end.
However, as a photographer, intrigued by the joke, but by no means intending to replicate it visually, I merely used it as a vague starting point. I approached this series not trying in the least to reach the limits of an audience's tolerance for taboo subjects, but in an absurdist tone, to present a glimpse of an anything but regular dinner scene.
