This piece represents a typical Colorado autumn experience - something magical and sublime. As clouds pass overhead, they allow filtered light to enter the forest canopy, revealing the vibrant colors of fall. Truly, my favorite time of the year here in Colorado.
Out of an 11-day trip to photograph fall color in Colorado, this was one of only two days that I encountered any clouds. I took advantage of the situation by climbing up high on a nearby ridge to take in this magnificent scene near Crested Butte, Colorado. The passing dispersed low clouds created excellent cover from the sun and allowed for dappled light to shine upon the landscape below - making for quite the show in a time-lapse video. The Castles and West Elk Peak anchor the scene at left and right respectively above a large forest of changing aspen trees in glorious autumn color.
1080p but 4k is also available and will be provided upon request.
Comes with a print from the same day showcasing this scene stopped in time.
