The work deals with the notion of crowds and landfills (work was created pre-covid any notions to crowds post that are totally circumstantial) by creating a fictional universe that contains motifs and mascots rooted in South Asian nostalgia.
These characters most of whom were originally used as mascots take on a life of their own outside of their intended purpose once their rose tinted nostalgia is stripped away and they are forced to face the passage of time.
A narrative that confronts present-day problems head on rather than trying to escape to a certain notion of a safe space from a bygone era. Replacing the childlike innocence with contemporary anxieties. Striping away the safe escapism associated with these objects and characters while engaging the viewers and fraternity alike, into questioning the legitimacy of high art and popular culture.
