I've always been amazed by this unique marvel, especially as a biologist. The Great Salt Lake Causeway separates the north and south portions of the lake. Its existence has caused a unique color variation in the north and south portions of the lake. The salinity of the north is significantly higher, creating the perfect environment for a red alga to grow— resulting in its beautiful pink color. Adaptation. Growth. When I first arrived at the causeway, the color differences standing on the ground were minimal and hard to notice. The key to observing this phenomenon is the view from above. This stunning aerial view highlights the dark blue of the south and the bright pink of the north. A unique landscape, featuring nature's adaptation to human interventions.
