I went into the shola forest before the first light. My senses were on the lookout for the dreaded 'Nilgiri Marten.' Many frogs could be heard, as well as wonderful bird melodies. I entered an open area within the trees and realised I was extremely freezing. There was a ray of sunshine, and I wished the sunrise would warm me up. I saw this occurrence when I gazed up the mountain. I haven't seen a sunrise like this in all my years of photographing.
I noticed, I realised, the forest waking up to a new day, the gloom transforming, the sound and the entire atmosphere transforming. I was in the moment, realising how much change affects so many things. Accept it, and moving forward will bring about another change.
'The Elusive Sunrise' is a three-part photography series that I've titled. I've never seen anything like it before or after. Perhaps it was just for me.
