Author of this photo is Czech photographer David Gaberle. A photograph is from his photobook Metropolight published in 2017 and distributed to over 40 countries. The photo received global attention and was published in the Guardian.
The book explored the extent to which urban architecture defines our existence. I stood in this particular spot for over two hours waiting for the right moment. I was mesmerised by the reflected lights and purple tones of the scene. The curve of the umbrella breaks up the straight lines of the city. Round shapes feel like a soothing touch in the harsh angles of urban architecture.
