This red-colored Psychotria poeppigiana is a plant native to the Oriental Plains of my home country Colombia. It now flourishes where a coca plantation used to be in the early 2000s. Our country has historically been stained with blood as it's branded in one of the colors of our Flag; but the redness of this flower is no longer pain, it is no longer suffering.
This vibrant blossoming represents the thriving nature of one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. After 50 years of being affected by the internal conflict, Colombia wants to build a society that is respectful of its natural resources and aware that each individual action has a collective impact.
