Diamond Beach in southern Iceland gets its name from the blocks of ice that break off from the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon into the sea. The sea waves push the ice chunks towards the shore of this black sand beach, creating a contrast between the brightness of the ice and the darkness of the land, where they rest until the next wave moves them or takes them to the bottom of the sea. If you are lucky enough to enjoy a cloudy sunrise, you get the perfect contrast between all the elements.
