Alhambra de Granada

After the conquest of the kingdom of Granada in 1492, the elaborate complex was regarded by the Catholic kings as a very important booty. After his visit to Granada in 1526, their grandson Emperor Charles V ordered the construction of a Renaissance palace in the middle of the Alhambra, for which part of the Alhambra was demolished.
