Odalisque; Serpent of Chaos; BROWN

The depiction of woman as both fertile sex goddess and destroyer of worlds is the mythology of femininity throughout history. The image of the odalisque; is a consistent theme in Western art stemming from a fascination with the concubines of the Near East and a European penchant for the reclining nude. In keeping with this tradition, this piece embraces the sensuality of classically feminine shapes and the power of chaos that lies beneath.
